Despite the fact that LG household appliances are considered to be among the most reliable, problems may arise from time to time even with such household devices. Today, few can imagine a household without such a useful device as a washing machine. And since hand washing is a thing of the past, the more unpleasant the situation is when the LG washing machine refuses to work and displays an error on its display. Today we will tell you what the pe error means on an LG washing machine and how to fix it.
This error occurs quite rarely and can appear both during the washing process and during spinning or rinsing. The PE code means that the water level sensor (pressure switch) does not measure the water level in the drum correctly. As a result, the washing machine cannot determine how much water is in the tank and does not start washing, or interrupts it at any stage, and the PE error code appears on the display.
If you have an LG washing machine model without a screen, the error will be indicated by the simultaneous flashing or lighting of the wash, rinse and spin indicators.
So what does the PE error mean and how to fix it?
Some faults that can cause the PE error can be identified and fixed independently. Let's consider them:
- If the PE error occurs for the first time, you can try disconnecting the washing machine from the power supply for 15-20 minutes, and then reconnecting it to the outlet. Perhaps the cause of the malfunction was a small failure in the control module, and such a simple reboot can fix the problem.
- If the washing machine fills but immediately drains water from the drum, it may be incorrectly installed and connected, and the drain is located below the level of the washing machine tank. As a result, the water immediately goes into the sewer and an error occurs. The solution to the problem will be to reconnect the washing machine to the drain system or install it on a flat surface.
- The PE code may mean that the inlet hose of the washing machine is pinched or clogged. To solve the problem, straighten the hose or clean it from possible dirt.
- Also check the connection of the wires going to the pressure switch. Perhaps one of them has come loose, causing the error.
If none of the suggested troubleshooting options helped, you may have encountered a malfunction that requires repair.
- Pressure switch malfunction. This problem means that the washing machine does not start washing because it cannot determine the water level in the tank and displays an error code on the display. In rare cases, blowing out the pressure switch tube if it is clogged is enough to solve the problem. In other cases, the water level sensor may need to be replaced.
- The PE code means that the control module may have failed. If some elements of the unit are faulty, the washing machine will display an error immediately after attempting to start washing or during the program. The solution to the problem will be repair or replacement of the control unit.
- The PE error may mean that there is a problem with the cables and wires inside the washing machine that lead to the pressure switch. In this case, the repair will be limited to replacing them.
It is better to entrust the elimination of any malfunction to specialists of the LG service center, who have the necessary knowledge and skills to diagnose and eliminate possible problems with household appliances.
