You loaded the laundry, selected a program and started the LG washing machine. The machine filled with water, but did not spin the drum, and the display showed the LE error. At the same time, the drum does not spin in all programs: "Rinse, Wash, Spin". In LG washing machines with a direct drive, you can sometimes notice that the drum twitches in an attempt to return to its original position. What does the displayed error code mean and is it possible to fix the LE error yourself?
The LE error means motor overload. Most often, the error can be seen when there are some problems in the electrical network that cause overloads and lead to the motor blocking.
The reasons for the error may be as follows:
- The door is not closed tightly. An unlocked door does not close the circuit and indicates that the program cannot be started - and this leads to an error. Try opening and closing the door of the LG washing machine again until you hear a characteristic click.
- Control unit failure. The failure may occur due to power surges or other reasons indicating equipment overload. To get rid of the LE error, turn off the LG washing machine for about a quarter of an hour and then turn it on again.
- Overweight laundry in the drum. Overweight causes the LE error during spinning. The machine cannot distribute the laundry correctly, and the resulting lump overloads the motor. To resume the rotation of the drum and eliminate the error, you need to take out some of the laundry and spin the laundry in two stages.
- Low voltage. The washing machine stops with the LE error if the voltage in the network is below normal. You need to wait until the problem is fixed and the voltage returns to normal, then turn the machine on again.
- The drum is blocked by foreign objects. A foreign object can be a button that has come off something, or keys or a keychain that you forgot to take out of your pocket in advance. They can get between the drum and the body. Turn off the machine, try to rotate the drum by hand, if it does not rotate, then use tweezers to remove the foreign object that is blocking the rotation of the drum.
When to contact LG service center
Some errors require contacting the LG service center, as the reason may be a breakdown of one or another part. Below are the malfunctions that can cause the LE error on LG washing machines:
- Mechanical damage to the handle or lock. As a result: it is impossible to close the appliance door tightly.
- The UBL wiring is damaged. The door does not lock even in the absence of visible damage.
- The UBL is broken. The door closes but does not lock.
- The tachogenerator (speed sensor) is broken. The drum does not rotate, an attempt to rotate is accompanied by a loud hum.
- The engine has failed. The washing machine does not start at all, the drum does not rotate.
- The control unit is faulty. The washing process stops at any stage, regardless of the selected program.
LE errors are typical for LG washing machines with direct drive. Most often, it occurs simultaneously with the program freezing, while when the machine is turned off, the drum rotates freely by hand. If you doubt what caused the error, it is better to contact the LG washing machine service center.
