F42 Error in Bosch washing machine

The self-diagnosis system in Bosch washing machines always notifies the user of malfunctions that have occurred that interfere with normal operation. She reports any breakdowns, even small and not critical. It is easy to understand that not everything is in order with the machine by the code - it appears on the display of the electronic unit. When error F42 appears, this means that the engine is running at too high a speed, their number is greater than normal. When such a code appears, the problem cannot be ignored. Error F42 is critical, you must immediately disconnect the washing machine from the mains. If this is not done, a short circuit or even a fire may occur.

What could be the reasons?

Error F42 has a characteristic manifestation of it. If the engine is running at high speeds, the washing machine behaves incorrectly. It hums, rumbles, and jumps a lot, even if the minimum spin speed is set.

Improper operation of the motor occurs for the following reasons:

• Broken tachometer. It records pressure and RPM. If not, everything is in order with it, the desired signal is not sent to the control board, and the engine starts to wear out.
• The electric motor has failed. The course of repair depends on what exactly is faulty in it. Sometimes it cannot be recovered.
• Breakdown of the triac of the control unit. It is also repaired or replaced, depending on the condition.

You can try to reset the error yourself - perhaps its appearance is associated with software failures. To do this, try restarting the washing machine. Unplug it from the electricity and let it rest for 15-20 minutes. Then turn it on again and start washing. If the error does not appear, then the problem is fixed.

What other malfunctions can be?

Situations where the washing machine moves out of place or even jumps during operation are not uncommon. If at the same time error F42 also appears, which does not disappear even after a reset and reboot, this may be due to the following breakdowns:

• Loss of spring elasticity. It is they who hold the tank in place, but eventually fail due to natural wear and tear.
• Failure of dampers and shock absorbers. If only one of the parts is worn out, it is better to replace two at once.
• Loose fastenings and violation of the counterweight. In this case, it is enough to tighten the fasteners.
• Bearing rusting. This happens to them due to high humidity.
• Incorrect installation. For example, due to an uneven surface. If it is like that, you should put a rubber mat under the machine or call the wizard for proper installation.

Rumbles and jumps can be associated with improper transportation, the fact that you forgot to remove the transport bolts, or you loaded the laundry unevenly and it got lost in one huge lump.
