F40 Error in Bosch washing machine

Modern Bosch electronic washing machines are equipped with a self-diagnosis system. This means that in the event of any malfunction that interferes with normal operation, they themselves report this by displaying an error code on the display. It looks like a combination of letters and numbers. For each value - a separate decoding, they are presented in the operating instructions for the device.

If error code F40 appears on the screen, it means that a power supply error has occurred. It is accompanied, as a rule, always by the same sign - when you try to turn on the unit, it does not respond to button presses and program settings. An error appears on the display immediately and nothing can be done. This phenomenon needs to be dealt with promptly.

What could be the reason?

In most cases, faults in the electrical network are to blame for the appearance of the F40 error code. The first step is to make sure that there is electricity in the house or apartment at all. However, if there is no light at all, it will be immediately clear. If there is electricity, but the F40 code still appears and the wash does not start, it is worth checking the following points:

  • Machine. If water gets into the outlet, this often leads to a short circuit. As a result, the machine knocks out. Take a close look at him.If it really knocked out, return it to the on position.
  • RCD operation. It happens due to the leakage of electricity to the case - in this case, the washer turns into a current conductor and beats with it, you just must touch it. It is also possible that the RCD hangs, for example, when using a low-quality wire.
  • The socket is broken. It is easy to check it - just insert the plug of any other electrical appliance into it. You can also use special testers or 220 V bulbs with wires connected.
  • Broken power cord. To make sure that the reason is in it or not, just check the cable. If it is defective, it will have to be replaced.Do not use electrical tape for such purposes, it can only aggravate the situation.

The reason may also lie in the extension cord. It is often used if the outlet is far away, and the power cord itself is very short.

What other reasons could there be?

If the cord, extension cord and socket are in order, the light has not disappeared, and the F40 error still appears, this may be due to:

  • Failure of the "Start" button,
  • Breakdown of the FPS or noise filter,
  • Faulty controller.

In the event of such breakdowns, it is no longer possible to deal with the error on your own and reset it. It is necessary to invite the mechanic for diagnostics and repair.
