When choosing a washing machine, buyers are primarily guided not only by a wide range of functions, but also by reliability. LG can boast outstanding indicators in both of these categories: the manufacturer's assortment includes a wide range of models, and all LG washing machines have high build quality.

The LG washing machine is very reliable and will serve you for many years, delighting you with the highest quality of washing and other functions throughout its entire service life. But all this, of course, subject to correct and careful use. (You can read the rules on how to care for the LG washing machine in the User Manual, which comes with it).

However, from time to time, any washing machine may experience problems. LG washing machine manufacturers have foreseen this possibility, so all LG washing machine models without exception are equipped with an error warning function. These are alphanumeric codes that appear on the washing machine display, sometimes accompanied by a sound signal.

Thanks to this functionality, the use of equipment is excluded if there is a risk of breakdown or use in violation of safety rules.

All error codes are universal and do not depend on the model of your LG washing machine. The full list can be found in the User Manual. If for some reason the owner does not have the instructions at hand, information about error codes and methods for eliminating them can be found on the official LG website in the Frequently Asked Questions section.

One of the common errors that washing machine owners encounter is the DE error. Sometimes this same designation on the washing machine display may look like dE1, dE2 or DOOR. As you might guess, this error is directly related to the washing machine door. This means that the door is not fixed, the washing machine cannot continue to work.

This error can appear at any stage: directly during washing, rinsing and spinning. If you try to start the process again, the washing machine immediately returns the same error, and the door is locked.

Error DE in LG washing machine : main reasons for the error

  • The washing machine is loaded with too many laundry, preventing the door from closing properly.
  • During loading, some item accidentally got caught between the rubber seal and the door, which also prevents the door from closing.
  • Mechanical damage or distortion of the washing machine door.
  • Malfunction of the electronic lock of the washing machine.

The last two cases require the intervention of a qualified specialist. Do not try to fix the breakdown yourself, contact the official LG washing machine service center.

In other cases, you can fix the DE error yourself at home. Here's what you need to do:

Error DE in LG washing machine : ways to fix it

  • Try pressing the door tighter. It may not have closed properly. You should hear a clicking sound indicating that the door is closed correctly.
  • Try opening and closing the washing machine door again. In some cases, this helps to resolve the DE error.
  • Make sure you have not loaded too much laundry into the washing machine. The drum of each washing machine is designed for a certain volume of items. It is measured in kg. Information about the size of the drum of your washing machine can be found in the Technical Data Sheet of the device. If there is too much laundry (you had to apply force to load it, the drum of the washing machine is completely full and the items are compacted), remove some of the laundry and then continue washing.
  • Make sure that no foreign objects, such as clothing or foreign objects, are caught between the rubber seal and the door.
  • Carefully examine the door hinges of the washing machine. They may be warped (this can happen as a result of long-term use of the washing machine and mechanical wear of the parts).
  • The reason may be a failure of the washing machine control module. Disconnect the LG washing machine from the power supply (carefully remove the cord from the socket), wait about 20 minutes, and then turn it on again.
